UCSD official addressing: http://blink.ucsd.edu/facilities/services/mail/using/fedex.html#Check-that-the-package-is-addre

Best practices:

"I just had a conversation with Sym Capps, UCSD Mail Services Sorting and Delivery Supervisor. Here is what I learned:

1) Mail Services and Trade Street will not accept express delivery packages because they know that the customer has paid extra to receive these packages in a timely manner.

2) 9500 Gilman Drive is recognized by all carriers as the UCSD main campus address and 92093 is the main UCSD campus zip code. 92037 is used for SIO, Thornton Hospital and the rest of La Jolla. If you use 92037 you risk your package being delivered to the wrong location and getting rerouted back to FedEx causing further delays.

3) Including the mail code is another piece of info that assists UPS/FedEx/DHL in locating the exact floor or area in a building to deliver to. In our case, all packages to Atkinson Hall are received at mail code 0436 which points to the Atkinson Hall 5th floor Atkinson Hall.

4) If all else fails, including your phone number helps with redirecting incorrectly delivered packages.

Sym indicated that Mail Services does extensive training for all carriers so that they understand the nuances of the university. Mail services is willing to come out to train our employees if necessary and answer questions. If you have any questions, you can contact Sym Capps directly at scapps@ucsd.edu or x4-9923"
